I read all the reviews for about 4 different "waterproof" mattress pads before going with this one. It did wash well, dried easily and quickly, and is not noisy underneath the sheets. We needed something waterproof for our 2-yr-old's twin bed...she has been potty trained awhile but occasionally will still wet the bed at night. The first time she did with this mattress pad, it soaked straight through everything and soaked the mattress! We heard her cry out (which is usually when she pees and doesn't mean to) and went immediately in to her, and stripped everything right away. So with it not even sitting there long, I have no idea how the other reviewers got away with dry mattresses...maybe this was just a lemon, but after all the research I did and my expectations for a $35 mattress pad, I'm too disappointed to try another in this brand, we'll try something else.

The cover was over a year old when my cat got sick and had a large accident on the bed... The mattress cover was ruined, but the mattress is great. I'm buying another today!

This mattress pad was initially waterproof but after two or three washings, following the care directions it was as waterproof as a cotton sheet. If you want something waterproof that never requires washing, this is a great option. If you want something waterproof that needs to stay waterproof, try something else.
